Attention To The Use Of High-Voltage Ceramic Capacitors
First: working voltage
When using DC rated voltage capacitors in AC circuits or ripple current circuits,
Be sure to maintain the Vp-p value of the applied voltage or the Vo-p value including the DC bias voltage within the rated voltage range.
If voltage is applied to the circuit, a temporary abnormal voltage may be generated due to resonance or switching when starting or stopping.
Be sure to use a capacitor whose rated voltage range includes these abnormal voltages.
Second: working temperature and self-generated heat
(Applicable to B/E/F characteristics)
The surface temperature of the capacitor should be kept below the upper limit of its rated operating temperature range.
The self-generated heat of the capacitor must be taken into consideration. When the capacitor is used in high-frequency current, impulse current, etc., it may generate self-generated heat due to dielectric loss.
The applied voltage should be such that the load such as self-generated heat does not exceed the range of 20°C under the ambient temperature condition of 25°C, and the thermocouple with a small heat capacity of 0.1mm (K) should be used for measurement.
And the capacitor should not be affected by the heat dissipation of other components or the surrounding temperature fluctuations,
Overheating may cause degradation of capacitor characteristics and reliability.
Third: Test conditions for withstand voltage
1. Test equipment
The test equipment for AC withstand voltage should have performance similar to 50/60Hz sine wave,
If a deformed sine wave or an overload voltage exceeding the specified voltage value is applied, it may cause a malfunction.
2. Voltage application method
When applying withstand voltage, the lead or terminal of the capacitor should be firmly connected with the output terminal of the withstand voltage test equipment;
Then increase the voltage from near zero to the test voltage. If the test voltage does not gradually increase from near zero but is directly applied to the capacitor,
The zero crossing point should be included when applying. At the end of the test, the test voltage should drop to nearly zero;
Then remove the capacitor lead or terminal from the output end of the withstand voltage test equipment. If the test voltage does not gradually increase from near zero but is directly applied to the capacitor,
Then there may be a surge voltage, which will cause a malfunction. 0V voltage sine wave
*Zero crossing refers to the position where the voltage sine passes through 0V.
4. Fail-safe
When the capacitor is damaged, the failure may cause a short circuit. In order to avoid dangerous situations such as electric shock, smoke, fire, etc., caused by the short circuit,
Please use fuse and other components in the circuit to set the fail-safe function,
If you ignore the above warnings when using this product, it may cause a short circuit in severe cases, and cause smoke or local dispersion.
